A society that is just, socially and economically secure for children. Our aim is to improve the lives and inspire the hope of orphaned and vulnerable children through facilitating prevention, care and support, mitigation and advocacy.
Hope Tariro Trust is a child-based charity organization that was formed and registered in 2003 to improve the livelihoods and prospects of vulnerable and orphaned children in Zimbabwe.
Our vision is A society that is just, socially and economically secure for children. Hope Tariro Trust’s mission is: To improve the lives and inspire the hope of orphaned and vulnerable children through facilitating prevention, care and support, mitigation and advocacy.
We concentrates on building children’s access to food, education, life skills, and recreation. Building hope among the hopeless is therefore a cardinal thrust of the Trust. This is achieved through strategies that address the body, the mind, the emotions and the spirit of the individual child.
The Trust draws some of its inspiration and direction from the Bible. For example, Psalms 83, verses 3-4, tells us, “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless, maintain the rights of the poor and the oppressed.” It also derives inspiration from good traditional philosophies and practice such as hunhu or ubuntu which essentially means that a person is a person because of other people and underlines the importance of cordial and constructive relationships between people.
Hope Tariro Trust started ECD as a response to a seeing a lot of children loitering around who were supposed to be in school. The children could not attend ECD because the two primary schools in the area are more than 6 km away a distance that’s is very long for children under the age of 5 years. We registered 40 children but only 21 were coming to school and sonetimes missing classes because they won’t be having food to carry to school till end of March. Beginning of April we got a volunteer qualified teacher to help us set up the classes as per Ministry of Education requirements. We currently have a class of 43 pupils. More children are registered but we need resources to have another class. The journey is shown on our pictures from February to date. Our hope is to build proper infrastructure for learning.
